A possible meeting between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un next month could delay the decision on whether the president will agree to an interview with special counsel Robert Mueller, said Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City Mayor who is Trump’s lawyer.

The timing of any such interview related to Russia investigation “depends greatly” on whether the summit, initially scheduled for June 12 in Singapore, happens, Giuliani said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.” Trump on Thursday wrote an open letter to Kim calling off plans for a meeting, but on Saturday suggested it could still happen.

“If they put this thing on, and they probably would have to do it in the next two days, we literally can’t get much done until after the 12th, until after he comes back from Singapore,” Giuliani said, referring to the president.

Earlier this month, Giuliani said the president’s attorneys hoped to decide whether Trump should testify by May 17, the one-year anniversary of Mueller’s the appointment as special counsel, but no decision has been made.
