MAE SAI, Thailand—Thai authorities hope to evacuate four remaining boys and their soccer coach from the flooded Tham Luang cave on Tuesday, ending a more than two-week ordeal that began when members of the team were stranded by flash floods deep inside one of the country’s biggest cave systems.
A massive international effort involving more than 100 divers and rescue workers brought the first eight boys out through winding and partly-submerged passageways on Sunday and Monday, four a day. Doctors said the boys are being carefully monitored and are in generally good health.
A doctor and three Thai Navy SEALs who have been working with the stranded team also remain inside the cave.
The official coordinating the rescue, Narongsak Osottanakorn, said authorities aimed to complete the daring rescue mission Tuesday despite heavy morning rains.
