SHOREWOOD, Wis. (AP) - Several hundred demonstrators have marched north of Milwaukee and other rallies are planned across Wisconsin to protest the Trump administration’s immigration policies.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that demonstrators marched from Shorewood Village Hall to Atwater Beach on Saturday. Rallies are also expected in Appleton, Green Bay, Oshkosh, Milwaukee, Sheboygan, Stevens Point, Wausau and Wisconsin Rapids.
People across the country are gathering for “Families Belong Together” demonstrations against the Trump administration’s immigration policy that has left children separated from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Erin Cassidente, of Menomonee Falls, came with members of her Mennonite church. She says she believes it’s “utter cruelty to separate children from their parents.”
Greendale resident Ray Gingerich had a sign that said in three languages: “No matter where you are from, we are glad you are our neighbor.”
